Story of Salon 3|5
My name is Ryan Benz and I am the founder of Salon 3|5. As of 2019, I have been licensed for 45 years, and I am continuously in love with the work. It is about people & the planet and so much more. Its fun to practice trends, see them go, and of course, see them come back again (often with a new twist). I have enjoyed my profession’s growth and evolution.
As the years have gone by, naturally I began to search for deeper meaning as well as additional ways to make a positive impact with my work. I am appreciative of being on the leading edge of environmental sustainability at Salon 3|5 with the Green Circle Certification. After all, our foundation is caring from both people & the planet and our expertise allow us to competently blend the two. For example, we offer no to low-ammonia hair colors & lighteners. Our products are of the hightest quality and are natural, sustainably sourced, & healthy for your hair/skin. Many of the ingredients are ethically collected by women in developing countries as a way to support their families. We also recycle everything in order to minimize our environmental impact. Furthermore, we love our animals and precisely choose morally alike product lines. These are just a few ways that we make it a part of our standard operation to be a good earth resident.
I have found a niche in helping clients embrace changing colors, textures, and movement that is associated with aging hair. It is fun for me to help people with quality product selection at this stage because they feel better and radiate the embracing of changes. But what keeps me coming back to work day after day is oppurtunity to empower people. I have the privilege to nurture the beauty and well-being of my clients as well as our planet.
When I am not at work I enjoy being with my grandchildren. I love to cook, paint, and attend local music events and theater events. Being involved in Downtown’s Corks and Canvas has been a joy because it combines my love of art, wine, and the salon in an event to empower local businesses and our community. I am currently enjoying staying on top of the social side of business through reading and engaging with a forward thinking book club.
